MinecraftEdu
How To Start
Beginners:
If you have never played Minecraft or have never touched MinecraftEdu, have no fear. We all started from your same exact location. The first thing I would suggest you do is to request that your school purchase MinecraftEdu. Don't worry about never having played it, just make the pitch and propose that they get on board with it. The easiest way to learn it is by playing around and getting your feet wet, so after you have access to it, you'll progress quite quickly. One you are in MinecraftEdu, you can find numerous tutorials on YouTube for how to begin moving around and using the Teacher Menu. If you are starting from zero background knowledge, it might be a good idea to start by watching this very basic tutorial I created to help people like us, who are walking in with no prior knowledge. If you'd like to learn more about MinecraftEdu being used in schools, feel free to take a look at this collection of recent articles to find out more. |
Intermediates:
Once you have your basics covered and can set up worlds and learning experiences for your students, the next step is to start following the experts and gurus. You can quickly find ideas just from watching what they have done with their own class. Along the way, you'll begin to discover that there are skills that you can learn which will help make your students' experience more realistic and efficient.
